VictimConnect provides 24/7 support to those in Queensland, who have been a victim of a violent crime. Additionally, VictimConnect works with Queensland Government Departments and other not-for-profit organisations to ensure a holistic approach to victim-survivor support. Violent crimes include assault, stalking, property damage, threats with a weapon, domestic violence, kidnapping, sexual assault or abuse, attempted murder, or manslaughter. We recommend media referring to the Queensland domestic and family violence guide and the Queensland sexual violence guide when reporting DFSV matters.
The team at VictimConnect are experienced in their understanding around the complexities of violent crimes and victim-survivor support and are available for interviews. Furthermore, victim-survivors add an important dimension to reporting violent crimes, and we recommend media refer to the Our Watch website for information on interviewing survivors as well as a list of organisations with trained survivor advocates.
