What is VOCCR?
The Victims of Crime Community Response Program (VOCCR) provides support in-person or over the phone in the days after a violent crime has happened. It is designed to help you meet your urgent needs.
It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days.
VOCCR is a program of VictimConnect, run in partnership with Victim Assist Queensland (VAQ).
The program is to support you in the days after experiencing a violent crime:
- assist you to get basic needs such as food, safe accommodation, clothing and transport
- provide you with support in the days following a violent crime
- follow up with you to see how you are going
- help you to find long term support.
How to contact us
You can reach us by:
- Calling the VOCCR Client Line on 07 2142 0472
Joining the Program
A person you spoke with (maybe a social worker or police officer) referred you to the VOCCR program. Your first contact may have been to our team, or perhaps one of the team members at VAQ. We work closely together to ensure you can access the support you need.
Working with our team
A Response and Connection Practitioner can talk to you about your needs and how they can support you. A Response and Connection Practitioner will help you access things that you need urgently, such as accommodation or transport. The Response and Connection Practitioner can also check in with you to see how you are going and connect you to long term support services to help you recover.
Joining is Voluntary
Your participation in the program is voluntary. This means that you don’t have to be involved if you don’t want to. Even if you say yes now, you can change your mind at any time.

Feedback is encouraged and valued. It helps us to understand what is working well and where there are opportunities for improvement.
If you are not happy with our service, support or staff at any time, or have ideas on how we can improve, we would like to hear from you.
To do this and if you feel comfortable doing so, you can discuss this with your practitioner or ask to speak with a Team Leader or Manager. If they are not on duty at the time of your call – they will return your call at the next available opportunity.
